July 2011 - January 2012
This proposed project addresses population monitoring and status of the yellowcheek darter in Arkansas, as well as the decline of a species currently a candidate for listing as endangered. Recently the yellowcheek darter has been eliminated from a significant portion of its range in Arkansas. We propose to estimate the distribution of the yellowcheek darter in portions of its range. Study results will enable USFWS and other agencies to base conservation management and policy decisions on sound data, which will lead to identification of conservation/management alternatives.
