Administratively, the Maine Unit is part of the Geological Survey, U.S. Department of the Interior. Functionally, the Unit works within the Department of Wildlife Ecology within the University of Maine's College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. The Maine Unit offices are located in Nutting Hall, between Libby Hall and Hitchner Hall. Visitors may park in the lot behind Nutting Hall.
Nutting Hall is located on Portage Road off Sebago Road.

Dr. Loftin joined the Maine Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in 1999 as the Assistant Unit Leader-Wildlife. She became the Unit Leader in 2011. She holds a graduate faculty appointment as an Associate Professor in the Wildlife Ecology department in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture.
