January 2010 - May 2012
Characteristics of dispersal of female white-tailed are not well studied because females exhibit a high degree of philopatry to natal home ranges. However, dispersal does occur and can be over long distances (>30 miles). We will use data on radio-collared female deer since 2005 to study dispersal rates, timing, and distances in Pennsylvania. In addition, we will investigate how dispersal may be influenced by landscape characteristics.
