Tim took over as leader of the Hawai'i Unit in 2016 after serving as the Assistant Unit Leader-Fisheries at the Texas Unit (2010-2016). He is an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Marine Science at the University of Hawai'i-Hilo.

Danielle Bartz

Danielle is a doctoral student with the Hawaii Unit enrolled in the Marine Biology Graduate Program at UH-Manoa. She is working on reconstructing the abundance and distribution of shark Scalloped Hammerhead populations based on interview data collected from anglers.

Jastine Honea

Jastine is an undergraduate in the Marine Science Department of UH-Hilo. She is working on her senior thesis project with the Hawaii Unit.

Kaikea Nakachi

Kaikea is a Unit student enrolled in the Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program at UH-Hilo. He is working on evaluating photo ID methods for estimating Tiger Shark abundance along the west coast of Hawaii Island.

Nikola Rodriguez

Nikola is a Unit student in the Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program at UH-Hilo. Her M.S. work focuses on understanding factors influencing successful parrotfish recruitment on Hawaiian reefs.

Bobbie Suarez

Bobbie is a MS student in the Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program at UH-Hilo. He is working on developing occupancy and detection coefficients to apply to stock assessments of reef fishes based on visual survey methods.

Ricky Tabandera

Ricky Tabandera

Ricky is a MS student in the Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program at UH-Hilo. His research focuses on the assemblage structure and population dynamics of fishes using Hawaiian fishponds, or loko i'a.
