As part of our mission, each of the Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit scientists routinely provides technical assistance ranging from data analysis support, GIS mapping, workshops, and consultations on a variety of natural resource issues.

Iowa Technical Assistance

  • Clay PierceInvited by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to provide expert review of their Biological Status Review of the federally endangered Topeka shiner, summer 2017. (June 2017 - Present)
  • Clay PierceInvited by Director of the Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center to review a grant proposal titled, "Detailed analysis of common carp recruitment and assessing the potential for developing species-specific carp toxins to develop realistic solutions for hypoxia-prone lakes". (April 2015 - April 2015)
  • Clay PierceAsked by the American Fisheries Society Fisheries Information & Technology Section to review the new version of their Fishery Analysis and Modeling Simulator (FAMS) software. I am known by the software developer and Section software librarian as a frequent FAMS user in both education and research, so my opinion on the new version was important in guiding development of the new version. (August 2014 - August 2014)
